Obverse: Portrait of Alessandro Manzoni. At the sides of the State seal, two horizontal copperplate friezes show the value of the note, in figures.
Reverse: At the centre, a view of Lecco and of the "arm of Lake Como" mentioned in the first line of Manzoni's novel The Betrothed.
Watermark reproduces the head of the muse Praxilla, nearly in profile facing the centre of the note.
