Dom Álvaro Vaz de Almada (1390 - 1449) was a military leader and chivalric hero-figure who fought on the English side in the 100 Years' War and on the side of Don Pedro in the succession crisis preceding the accession of Afonso V; he was captain-general of the city of Lisbon.
